Christie Sue (Magnuson) Butler, 75 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, December 31, 2021, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 107 N. 18th St., Lexington, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the church. Inurnment will follow at Lexington Memory Gardens. Christie was born on October 9, 1946, in Maryville, MO to John E. and Hazel (Mike) Magnuson. She graduated in 1964 from Lexington High School and attended Missouri Valley College. On December 31, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gail Thomas Butler, Jr. in Lexington. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2020. Christie started working for United Telephone Company in 1966 as a phone operator and retired in the late 1980's from Sprint. While at United Telephone she served as the Union Steward. After retiring, Christie went to work for Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington. She served as the Assistant Admissions Director, the Assistant Alumni Director and Development Coordinator retiring in the early 2000's. Christie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, ICC Altar Society and Past President, Tribe of Mic-O-Say, first female Scout Master in the Big Muddy District, District Commissioner for Troop 611, Order of the Arrow, Cub Scout Day Camp Bookkeeper and staff member for 30 plus years, Founding member of the Lexington Fall Festival, Co-Sponsor and Founder of APO Psi Gamma Chapter National Service Fraternity, Lexington Fire Department Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Volunteer for the House of Hope, Tae-Kwon-Do Instructor, and a member of the River City Players. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Christie loved knitting, reading, playing Spades and winning at Trivial Pursuit. Survivors include her daughter, Amy Butler of Lexington, MO; three grandchildren, Cody Skaggs, Ramsey Skaggs, and DeAnna McAboy, all of Lexington, MO; two great-grandchildren, Thomas, and Sky McLaughlin, both of Lexington, MO; and many close friends and relatives. Christie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
