Alta Mae Kite

Alta Mae (Carpenter) Kite, 94, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Odessa First United Methodist Church, 301 S. 1st Street, Odessa, MO, 64076. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Memorials are suggested to Odessa First United Methodist Church. Alta was born on September 14, 1927, to Floyd Preston and Eula Fay (Young) Carpenter in Oak Grove, MO. On November 16, 1944, she was united in marriage to Hollis Franklin Kite in Odessa, MO. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2006. Over the years, Alta worked for the Town & Country Shoe Factory, Lenhert’s Cleaners and Lafayette Sportswear, all located in Odessa, MO. She was a member of the Odessa First United Methodist Church. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Alta enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Sue Graham (Edward) and Karen Hahn (Charles) both of Odessa, MO; six grandchildren, Tina Sue Caton, Travis James Graham, Brian Dale Hahn, Matthew Lee Hahn, Charles Preston Hahn, and Jonathan Taylor Hahn; seven great grandchildren, Samantha Graham, Trevor Graham, Trenten Graham, Maximus Caton, Kayla Caton, Karly Hahn, and Kelsey Hahn; a great-great grandchild, Kaiser Honeycutt; a brother, Don Carpenter of Springfield, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Alta was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Fay Wilson and Mary France; three brothers, Carl, Dale, and Kenneth Carpenter; a brother in infancy, Perry Lee Carpenter; and a granddaughter, Linette Rae Graham.
